![]() ![]() However, there is still some data that is missing, and sometimes the opinion of a single person might not provide a good picture of the reality. ![]() Several famous pilots have already shared some insight on their favourite archetype, on Discord or Twitter, such as HappySandwich, Laplasjan, TSPJendrek, YungDingo, RespectTheCat, and many others. To do so, I need estimates from a lot of players. Of course, I am aware that flex spots and sideboards might impact significantly each MU, but I still think that with this lower level of detail we can reach something interesting, provided that we assume that a stock list is played on each side. Since those cannot be very accurate, I use 5 possible results: +1, +0.5, 0, -0.5, and -1 (very good, good, even, bad, very bad) to rank everything. That is why, instead, as an experiment, I am trying a different approach: instead of data, I am trying to build a matchup matrix using people's opinions and experience. So, for someone who would like to pick a deck based on its metagame positioning, it can be a challenge to find out about other decks that they don't know much about, and compare their available options. Indeed, if we want a 95% confidence interval on the win rate large of 3% (+/-1.5%) for instance, it would require the data of more than 1000 matches for each matchup. ![]() However, they are still missing data for it to be reliable enough. A matchup matrix is something we would love to get for Modern. ![]()
